Our Walking Football journey began in January 2024, when a small group of men decided it was time to bring football back into their lives—without the pressure, pace, or injuries of the traditional game.

Then, in April 2024, another important chapter began: the launch of our women’s Walking Football group.

In June 2024, just two months after forming, our women’s team played their first friendly match against Caldicot.

With our new bibs, we’re finally starting to look the part! Kindly given by Cwmbran Celtic Football Club.

September saw our first-ever Fun Day, and what a fantastic day it was! Our aim with Fun Days is to bring the whole club together—men and women alike—celebrating the spirit of walking football, friendship, and community.
Some of Our women’s team joined their first competitive league, marking an exciting milestone for the club and showcasing their skill, teamwork, and dedication to the game.

We were thrilled to receive new sponsorship and grants, which allowed us to get tracksuits and training kits. This isn’t just about the kit itself—it’s about creating a sense of belonging, pride, and unity within our community. When everyone wears the same colours and feels part of the team, it strengthens connections, boosts morale, and makes every training session and match feel even more special.

In March, our newly formed 50s men’s walking football team took their first steps— bringing together players who value fitness, friendship, and the love of the game

It was fantastic to see so many faces from all five of our walking football teams, both men and women! In April, we celebrated our 1st anniversary!
Never did we imagine that in just one year we would reach 100 members—what an incredible achievement! Here’s to another year of making memories, having fun, and enjoying the game with friend

In May, our women’s team won their first league campaign, which is a proud moment for the entire club. Their dedication, teamwork, and spirit reflect the strength of our community—here’s to many more shared successes!

August saw Cwmbran’s first walking football tournament. It smashed expectations—300 players showed up and made it unforgettable.

We held our first social mixed tournament—open to players of all ages, men and women, who aren’t currently registered in any league.
As a club, our goal is to make walking football fun and accessible for everyone, regardless of age or ability. This social tournament is designed for those who don’t play competitively, giving them the chance to enjoy the game once a month, all year round, in a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment.

A tri-national walking football tournament is coming to Cwmbran this month!
Several players from Cwmbran Celtic Walking Football Club have been selected to represent their nations—an incredible achievement for everyone involved.
The three competing teams are Wales, Ireland, and England, with matches across the following categories:
We host regular social gatherings, tournaments, charity events, and friendly matches with nearby clubs—strengthening bonds beyond the pitch.
